Commissions, Hotel & International Gardens

Here is a small selection of other commissions we have been asked to design and build.

The Boutique Hotel & Country Inn Garden

The Maytime Inn which nestles in the beautiful Cotswold village of Asthall near Burford had a large car park which the owner wanted transformed into a new ‘Gin Garden’. Our garden design and construction incorporated a mature yew hedge to screen the new garden from the car park, a new dining terrace with individual seating areas surrounded by scented planting creating the perfect place to eat and drink. A large lawn gave space for more informal seating, the garden also incorporates a full size Pétanque pitch providing entertainment for guests. The design also included an outdoor bar and subtle evening lighting.

The Country House

Set in the heart of the Cotswolds the gardens and paddock had been neglected for many years, new owners were undertaking major renovations to the exterior of the house. Our brief was to design and build a new garden to compliment features of the existing garden.

An oak summerhouse created a focal point and outdoor entertaining area. Oak raised beds and new bespoke glasshouse form the kitchen garden. A new seating area overlooking the newly constructed waterlillie pond and rill complimented the existing terrace pools. A garden was designed around the new entrance hall at the front of the house. The paddock was cleared, vegetable garden and orchard planted and oak gardeners shed constructed. The garden was completely replanted; incorporating an automatic irrigation system with subtle lighting illuminating the garden in the evening.

The Hotel garden

The brief was to create a space from an existing archaeological dig where the residents and staff of a busy hotel can relax and enjoy the views across the sea. The materials needed to be natural and of the highest quality to blend in with the ancient surroundings.

Materials where sourced locally where possible, 50 tonnes of sand, stone and building materials were transported to this remote island for the project. Beach stone mosaics and blue slate make up the paving areas. Oak cobbles make up the rays of the sun, beach wood creates the fence and an oak topped semi circle seatiing area makes a space to sit and relax.

The Labyrinth

We were commissioned by a client to design and build an earth sculpture in their paddock to compliment their eco home. We designed and built this 60 meter diameter labyrinth. The path takes you from the entrance to the central seat, unlike a maze there is only one path, it is said that a labyrinth is symbolic of life.

The Natural Swimming Pond

We designed and built this natural swimming pond for a client’s property in the South of France. Unlike a conventional swimming pond there are no chemicals used, the water is cleansed by filtering it through a bed of plants and gravel. It makes a beautiful addition to a garden and swimming in the fresh waters of a natural swimming pond is a wonderful experience.

The Mosaic

We created this mosaic of the OM symbol for the garden of the Cotswold Iyengar Yoga Centre. Constructed of thousands of naturally coloured marble pebbles it makes a focal point on the main lawn for visitors.

The Marble Gazebo

This marble gazebo and Yorkstone terrace was built to make a focal point in the existing mature garden of a Cotswold manor house.

Green Roofs

Grass roofs are an environmentally sustainable and beautiful way of roofing buildings which can last twice as long as a conventional roof. We have installed many sedum roofs on our bespoke garden buildings and also on existing buildings.
